OUR MISSION

Our mission is to help YOU flourish and unveil your unique voice through dance. To provide professional dance instruction in a safe, friendly, progressive and high quality studio environment.   Our objective is to create a safe space where everyone feels welcome in our diverse and all inclusive environment. 

ABOUT US

Dominique Swanson, Director

Dominique`s School Of Dance & Music will be run by Dominique Swanson. Dominique began her dance training at the tender age of 5 and quickly fell in love with the art. As a small child – teenage years, she trained at Garden State Ballet, where she took every class possible from Classical Ballet – Irish, under Jody Jaron`s leadership.

 In 2010, She starred in the Nutcracker with a lead role as the “Sugar Plum Fairy ”. In high school, Dominique began taking classes at Lachaney’s Dance and Music where she learned the rhythm of hip hop and participated, briefly, in competition dance. In 2012, she earned a Music Production Certificate from Newark Tech High School. Dominique has won first place at the Staten Island McDonald’s Gospel Fest (performing alabaster box), she has trained professionally at the Dance Theatre of Harlem, Alvin Ailey, and Montclair State University. Her performances include: The Prudential Center (The McDonald Gospel Fest), The Shirley Chisholm Awards, hosted by the Speaker of New Jersey, Sheila Oliver, The Apollo Theatre, Governor Murphy`s Drumthwacket (Black History month), SoPac Theatre (Dr. Martin Luther King tribute) and many more fun places.

Dominique has a BFA in Dance and M.B.A. from Montclair State University. She understands all aspects required in running a successful dance company.
She will oversee all of the instructors, class offerings, and client relationships.
Dominique’s passion is giving back and diversifying the art of dance, mainly ballet.

Schedule and Timings Details 

Classic Ballet I, II

Classes offered in basic, beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. This class is for students interested in developing the fundamental framework of ballet. Ballet is generally performed to classical music and most of the classics tell a story. Ballet is the foundation of practically every other form of performance dance. All dancers benefitfrom studying ballet for the poise, grace, balance, control and discipline

Liturgical

A style of dance used as an expression of worship. This class is designed to build skillful dancers who function within dance ministries or anyone who desires to dance for God with their spirit at the forefront.

Hip Hop

Classes offered in beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. This class consists of incorporating all of the fundamental elements of hip-hop. Within this style we include isolations, locking, waving, breaking, gliding, popping, and combinations of the rhythmic movements felt in hip hop.

BOYS & GIRLS

Jazz

Jazz dance is a fusion of styles such as ballet, modern, and free style. Jazz dancers should be dramatic, strong, supple, disciplined, quick and versatile with energy and vitality. The feeling of freedom in movement is inherent in Jazz dance. Facial expression, strong head and/or eye focus, artistic use of isolation in movements are dominant features that create the style. Musical Theater is a Broadway and theatre style jazz class that incorporates dance, drama and singing/lip singing.

Class/Tuition Fees

Standard registration fee of $15 

Tuition: $80 per month
“Drop in” class pass: $25
Studio Rental for any purpose: $40 per hour
Private Lessons or Choreography: $100 (60 minutes)

Where their Mission is to create a world in which everyone feels comfortable with who they are regardless of what the world around them thinks. To give young people of color the confidence to break through the glass ceiling of society and live at their highest possibility. We do this through mentorship and giving back to the community.
